La première fois que je suis sortie de Dublin, c'était pour me rendre à Howth, une ville côtière de la banlieue nord de Dublin. Un samedi ensoleillé de début septembre, nous avons pris le bus pour nous rendre sur ce morceau de côte sauvage à moins d'une heure de la capitale irlandaise.
The first time I went outside Dublin was to go to Howth, a city in the northern suburbs of Dublin located along the coast. At the beginning of September, on a sunny Saturday, we took the bus to go to this piece of wild coast located at less than one hour of the Irish capital city.

Il y a deux solutions pour se rendre à Howth en transport en commun en partant du centre ville de Dublin. Vous pouvez prendre le DART, qui est le train de banlieu de Dublin, à partir de la station Tara Street jusqu'à Howth Train Station, qui est le terminus de la ligne verte. Le DART vous déposera près du port de Howth. La meilleure solution, selon moi, est de prendre le bus 31 à partir de Talbot Street. Celui-ci vous emmènera au sommet des falaises de Howth et vous évitera de marcher des heures du port jusqu'aux falaises.Pour redscendre vers le port après votre tour sur les falaises, vous pouvez emprunter le bus 31 dans le sens inverse.
There are two options to go from Dublin city centre to Howth with the public transports. You can take the DART which is the suburb train of Dublin, from Tara Street station to Howth Train Station - the last stop of the blue line. You will arrive near Howth harbour with the DART. According to me, the best option is to take the bus 31 from Talbot Street. This one will bring you on top of Howth cliffs. This will avoid you to walk for hours from the harbour to the cliffs. To go to the harbour, you can take the bus 31 on the other way.

Arrivé en haut, vous empruntez un petit sentier qui vous promènera le long des falaises. La balade dure une heure si vous ne vous arrêtez pas, plus si vous admirez la nature (et que le soleil est de la partie...). La promenade est accessible à tout le monde, pas besoin d'être un marcheur confirmé pour contempler les falaises. Quand nous y sommes allées avec mes amies, le soleil sublimait le paysage et la balade était très agréable.
On top of the cliffs, you can walk down a path that goes along the cliffs. The walk lasts one hour if you do not stop, but it lasts more if you admire nature (and if the sun is out...). The walk is accessible for everyone. There is no need to be an experienced hiker to contemplate the cliffs. When we went with my friends, the sun underlined the beauty of the lanscape and the walk was really lovely.

Le port de Howth - Howth harbour
Après s'être baladées sur les falaises, la faim a commencé à se faire sentir. Nous avons donc pris le bus 31 pour nous rendre au port de Howth, où nous avons dégusté un fish & chips copieux pour 7-8€ assises dans l'herbe. Après quoi nous avons fait une petite sieste sur la pelouse du port encerclées par les mouettes. Puis, nous avons fait le tour du port, qui n'est pas très grand et n'est pas aussi exceptionnel que les falaises selon moi.
After the walk on the cliffs, we started to feel hungry. Thus we took the bus 31 to go to Howth harbour where we ate a big fish & chips for 7-8€ sitting on the grass. After the lunch, we did a little catnap on the grass of the harbour surrounded by seagulls. Then, we toured the harbour which is not very big and not as beautiful as the cliffs according to me.

Si vous passez plus de trois jours à Dublin, je vous conseille vivement d'aller faire un tour à Howth. Vous aurez un petit aperçu de la côte irlandaise, sans avoir à vous déplacer trop loin. A bientôt pour de nouvelles aventures!
If you spend more than three days in Dublin, I advise you to visit Howth. You will have a glimpse of the Irish coast without traveling too much. See you for further adventures!
